Janellis Awarded Australian Safer Communities Award

for Sydney CBD Emergency Management Guidelines for Business and Business Community Forum

The Minister for Emergency Services, Tony Kelly, presented Janellis with the NSW Australian Safer Communities Award in the Private Sector Organisations Pre Disaster category for their Sydney CBD Emergency Management Guidelines for Business and Business Community Forum.

Janellis first developed the CBD Emergency Management Guidelines in collaboration with the NSW Government to:

Improve the business community’s preparedness for emergency events.
Provide a self-assessment tool for businesses to test their current preparedness.
Improve the opportunity for an effective emergency response to such an event.

Provide clear processes and procedures for best practice emergency management within businesses for dealing with a major incident in the Sydney CBD.

At the National Award presentation ceremony, Attorney-General Philip Ruddock announced that Janellis’ initiative also won the National Private Sector Organisations Pre Disaster category.

In 2006, Janellis collaborated with Governor-General Peter Cosgrove to host the Convergence, a National Emergency Summit in Sydney. You can learn more about this conference here.
