Impacts of cyber security risks on technology and project teams
Technology and project teams need to consider cyber security risks when delivering projects and developing new products. Many project teams are completing projects using agile approaches or hybrid waterfall and agile. Whilst agile offers ‘speed to market’ and distributed decision-making, it is essential that high-quality decision-making is occurring within project environments.
The key steps to managing on-going cyber security risks and delivering projects include:
- Ensure the ‘agile ways of working’ consider cyber related risks and threats.
- Ensure you have a Critical Thinking Framework that can be used to guide agile, robust and defendable decision-making, particularly where there is technical complexity or ambiguity.
- Facilitate discussions on complex and technical decisions regarding cyber security threats and reach consensus on your decision using a Critical Thinking Framework.
- Design and develop Scenario Planning activities using in person or Digital War Rooms to build a shared view of the risks, threats and opportunities facing the project or the strategic objectives, uncover areas of concern or build assurance.
